Progressive Ambition : how to shape Europe in the next decade Edited by Andreas Schieder, László Andor, Maria Maltschnig, Ania Skrzypek [Recurso electrónico]

Tipo de material: TextoDetalles de publicación: Brussels, Belgium : Foundation for European Progressive Studies (FEPS) , 2024Descripción: 263 pTema(s): Recursos en línea: Resumen: The year 2024 is often called the super-election year. More than 60 countries, including Pakistan, India, South Africa, Russia and the USA, are holding elections. Half of the global population is being called to cast its vote. The quality, freedom and democratic standards differ significantly and not all elections can be seen as fair. When looking at these countries, we see that holding elections does not automatically mean that it is a democratic society. Nevertheless, the super-election year has an influence on the course of the global situation. In the last decade, the world has become more complicated and more insecure. Olaf Scholz, Germany’s social democratic chancellor, called this changing environment the “Zeitenwende”.
